About me

  • Elephantine is blogged by Rachel.

I write fiction at night, am almost always hungry, and am still working on that cure for procrastination... Elephantine is about finding beautiful objects and reporting the daily minutiae.

    I love getting email.

Recent etsy faves... ivory earrings from sixes+sevens, little rosie mary jane shoes from bellasymphony, and journaling tags from elles.

Tonight is scary movie night. Just watched 30 Day of Night and now mid-way through 28 Weeks Later. By "watch," I mean pay enough attention to get what's going on and pretending to watch when the freaky music starts.

Mixtape no. 3

A while ago I think I mentioned making the boyfriend a mixtape for valentine's day. It takes me forever to get this type of post together, but here it is. The idea wasn't to find a bunch of mushy or themed lyrics – it was more or less to just find good bands that he hadn't heard of and try to pick one of their best songs. And that was kind of hard, since I wasn't familiar with most of these bands. Anyway, enjoy... and happy friday!

Aww, sweet. Cup-a-Cake set from Williams Sonoma. Wish I liked eating cupcakes more since they're fun to make & decorate.

Annnnd I'm back. Feeling much (though not 100%) better. Tonight's discovery... sweet soft hues from Juma.

technical difficulties continue.

Hey there. I'm still out of commission, sleeping for the most part. In the meantime, check out tinyshop, this blog that I found recently, that "celebrates the preciousness of "mini" -- the shortest distance between 2 points, the space of minutiae, and creative endeavors on a small scale."

Ugh. I am totally sick. I think one of the worst things about having a cold is how it messes up your sleep. Not only did I probably not ever truly fall asleep but I had those dreams where I had an impossible task to complete and it made me all anxious, even when waking up. Now I also have these contradictory feelings where I don't even want to look at food because my taste buds hit the road but yet I really want fatty, sweet things like the ice cream above. Well.. pssh, okay. I'm making it sound worse than it is. Happy Sunday!

I just finished sewing all these little guys that are going to be shipped off to New York and live in a little shop over there. I love having a whole group of them and am feeling good about all the work done. Unfortunately I'm also feeling a little icky, am hoping I'm not coming down with something. Not sure what all is planned for this weekend – I think we're going to a bike swap today. Oh, and watching the Oscars tomorrow, unless they really suck.

These little mischievous guys from BicycleOcean make me smile. I love candy-striped pants (uh, just on characters, not in real life). I've been thinking of dressing up one of my own creations in a similar outfit.
