arf, arf!
Here's a couple shots of our new dog – he has been smiling almost constantly since we brought him home. His name is Otis, but we want to pick a new name for him (Bodhi is currently high in the running). He's on the bigger side (75 lbs), about 5 years old, loves squeaky toys, and is generally well-mannered (except for stealing and eating tortillas off the counter last night).

Apologies for my poor blogging attendance recently... I've been caught up in moving, decorating, and (the exciting news) adopting a dog! Photos will be posted soon. Once I get back into a routine, the posts will, too.
(In the meantime, a little tidbit from the other day: the boyfriend and I went out to a local Chinese restaurant, and when we opened up our fortune cookies, they both said the same thing: "You will make someone's heart grow fonder." I'm sure it was just a coincidence, but it got me thinking – it would be a funny gimmick if the restaurant planted messages on purpose for people who are on a date.)

DIY party favors.
I spent a good portion of today making mini potted thyme favors for my friend's bridal shower, which is tomorrow afternoon. It's a project I've seen places like Martha Stewart and the like, something I've been dying to do but hadn't had a good reason to until now.
Thyme looks great by itself, freshly planted in a small terra cotta pot. But I wanted them to look a little more festive, so I tied ribbon around the top (half the pots have gold ribbon, half have white) and then slid craft popsicle sticks into the side with the guests' names handwritten on them.

Lately I've been searching for the perfect cake stand. Not even necessarily for cakes – just as decor. Ones I have my eye on: this yellow one at Amazon and this white one at Wrapables.
