I think I'm getting closer...

When I see other shops that sell plush, the ones I'm really drawn to generally have one or two basic designs for the creatures, and then make variations in their fabric/color choices and paired accessories. It feels more like a whole family of goodies, and it makes me want to have one of my own so I can join in on the fun. This isn't something that I feel I've achieved yet with my own plush creations, but I think I'm going in the right direction. Some major changes I've made since the (not so long ago) beginning: I'm sewing everything by hand. The eyes are now french-knot dots instead of lines. I'm making unique accessories that come with each plushie.

Above are two of my more recent creations. Theo's on the left, and Zane's on the right – although he's spoken for as of this afternoon. Anyway, I don't think I've reached that point yet of figuring out my long-term range of creatures and exact designs, but I'm happy with what's been made up to this point, and that's all that matters so far.

As of last night, the newest addition to my little plush family: meet Perry and Carry. Sewn entirely by hand – and you'll notice that unlike many of my previous softies, these guys look perky + wide awake. I used french knots for their eyes, which I'm amazed to have not learned about before. Their bodies are sewn with an overlock stitch. Although more time consuming, it's nice to have done so much of it by hand. I do love my sewing machine, but I think it adds in a touch more love without having to use a foot pedal.

Happy almost weekend...

me and you

Me and you valentine notecard up in the shop. I'm happy with how it turned out, and I think even after the holiday passes, it's still generic enough to just be a sweet card to send to someone special...

New original illustration up in the shop. There's no backstory for this one. I just hunched over the paper and drew, drew, drew.

Nini is a fresh addition to the shop as of tonight. She's tiny and friendly.

I'm back!

Hi all – I've returned from a nice vacation in L.A. (relatives live there) and am now enjoying part deux of the seasonal break, my New Years four-day weekend. Hope everyone's holiday went smoothly + sparkling, as well. Short shop update: one of my gifts to relatives was this new "check-your-own" notecard that includes four different greetings. Now that it's not a surprise anymore, I listed it in the shop. Okay. Enough of that. I'll be back tomorrow with some kind of good find. Cheers!

Meet pine and cocoa! New plushies, intertwining tails, sold as a pair. Read more about them here. I also made a card with a portrait of these little cuties.

shop update, again!

New card in the shop, printed. I made a few others but it's too late to keep going tonight...

shop update!

Just added a new card to the shop, and I'm excited about this one because of the little cutie on the front, of course, but also because its production is different than my other cards. I drew the artwork first, then scanned it, added in color digitally, and then printed it onto cardstock. Check it out here.

Ludo

I must be going blogging crazy, the third post tonight! Here's a peek at my newest plushie, for sale in the shop. Say hello to Ludo. (If anyone's wondering about the name... I just watched Labyrinth. Obviously not the same type of character, but it's such a lovable name.)
