About me

  • Elephantine is blogged by Rachel.

I write fiction at night, am almost always hungry, and am still working on that cure for procrastination... Elephantine is about finding beautiful objects and reporting the daily minutiae.

    I love getting email.

personal pies

personal pies no. 3 & 4

When I left school and started working, I kind of went from one extreme to the other. These pies are pretty self-explanatory, just a couple notes: the school chart is my college design class. The work chart is not our whole firm; it's just the interactive department. (And sometimes I'm a little absentminded, so forgive me if I miscounted.)

My last bus ride home was random and drowsy; I sat across from a toddler who was clutching a lime green care bear and amused herself by imitating the woman next to me, counted three girls not sitting together but who could have been triplets (similar features, each with a distinctive nose, tied-back dark hair, thin frame, dangling white earphones), then nodded off and woke up three blocks from home, just as it was beginning to sprinkle outside.

I've started a new side project: personal pie charts. Inspiration comes directly from this series by Craig Robinson, the self-annual reports of Nicholas Felton, and, of course, the simple hilarity of this. I'm crossing my fingers that I will end up with some interesting, whether in the content or the comparisons, so bear with me. I'll be working on these a couple at a time & am getting through the basics first...
